A long history of paper merchanting, trading and converting

Capital was first established in London in 1949 in an office in Tottenham Court Road and soon moved to larger premises and a warehouse in Old Compton Street, Soho in 1954. Capital was the first and original clearance paper company owned and run by Jack Spring and Jeffrey Leigh together with a young and enthusiastic team that quickly developed business throughout the fifties and "swinging sixties" in the very heart of London.

Having outgrown the premises in Soho, the company moved in 1966 to a larger "wharf" building on the South Bank by the river Thames, and eventually in 1980 moved out of Central London. At the same time the business established a converting factory in Essex and stationery production in Liverpool and Manchester. During that time many, many people had benefitted, and then forged, long successful careers, some still active today, thanks to the training and experience they received under the leadership of the family owners.

During this time Capital was always known as the leading clearance paper merchant supplying a wide range of printers enabling them to be more competitive against the enormous competition that existed then.
